THE MARKET
Washington Locally Grown is a new kind of farmers market. It uses the convenience of the internet to connect the local farmers with the community. The basic system has been functioning in Athens for the past 7 years and works beautifully. We are excited to offer this same model to Washington and the surrounding areas so that our community can enjoy the high quality, chemical free, fresh produce, meat, eggs and other homemade products that are produced by our friends and neighbors. It is a great way to buy local and also a great way to sell local.
With Locally Grown you get to order what you want, in the quantities that you want, from the farms that you want. The weekly email lists the produce, meats, eggs, fresh flowers, and artisan goods available that week, and you can browse the items on this website before you place your order.
HOW IT WORKS
IT IS SO
SIMPLE! If you are a customer, just go online when the market is open, type in the quantity you want and click on the buy button. You can continue to shop at your leisure. When you are ready to check out, simply go to the upper left hand corner of the page and click on checkout. It will take you to the checkout page, where you can review your order, change anything you want and then confirm your order by clicking on the place your order button. (Important! If you don’t click on place your order, it does not go through).
WHEN AND WHERE
TO ORDER: An e-mail will go out every Wednesday morning at 7:00 AM with a complete list of what is available. You can order from the website anytime between 7:00 AM on Wednesdays until 8:00 PM on Thursdays.
The growers will receive the orders after the market closes on Thursday and will harvest and package their orders on Friday to be delivered to the pick up spot.
TO PICKUP: Come by Charlie LeGette’s Law Office between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM on Fridays. The office is located on the square in Washington on the corner near the courthouse. The orders will be organized for you and you can pay for them with cash or check. Then just go home and enjoy!
